IT’S almost time for the annual Burley-in-Wharfedale Duck Race.
It has become such a popular event that an extra 500 ducks have been purchased for this annual village fundraiser on Sunday, June 10.
The race, which sees hundreds of yellow plastic ducks released into the River Wharfe to race downstream on the current to the finish line, will raise money for Burley Community Trust and the Burley Scouts and Guides new headquarters appeal.
Burley-in-Wharfedale Community Trust chairman, Duncan Ault, said: “We’ve recruited another 500 ducks, so we’ll have a record 3,500 ducks competing to win! The ducks are so popular, they recently had an outing to Bradford City park where they took part in a big fundraiser on Yorkshire Day to raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.’’
