THE girls of 1st Burley Brownies wrote to their favourite authors, illustrators, actors and presenters earlier this year asking them to take part in the Bookmark Project. With the help of their leaders they have been asking celebrities to create unique bookmarks for their auction which raises money for Katiyo Primary School in Zimbabwe which is a school the Brownies have supported for the past 17 years.
The Bookmark Project auction is an annual auction full of one off, unique bookmarks designed, doodled or created by authors, illustrators, actors and other celebrities. All the money raised by the auction once fees have been paid goes to support Kaityo Primary School in the Honde Valley in Zimbabwe.
Their celebrity doodlers include Emma Thompson, Julia Donaldson, Sir Patrick Stewart, Dawn French, Brian May, Sandi Toksvig, Jemma Redgrave, Prime Minister Theresa May, M.G. Leonard and Tony Ross along with a number of other very talented authors, illustrators, actors and presenters.
The auction ran from May 9 to May 27 and raised £3,103.
