New Headquarters

Grand Opening of the new Scout and Guide Headquarters

- 28th September 2019

After 5 years of fundraising, Burley Scouts and Guides are enormously proud to announce the official opening of our new headquarters.

Scouting & Guiding have been running in the village for 100 years and the celebratory opening will ensure that we are able to keep the tradition going strong. The new building has 2 large meeting rooms to allow concurrent meetings to take place. Each meeting room has its own kitchen space and its own break out room, and there is a long storage space to allow us to store all our equipment. This new layout reflects the needs for modern day Scouting and Guiding, and having two large meeting rooms allows different meetings to be held concurrently.

The new scout and guide hut has been made possible thanks to the tireless energy of volunteer fundraisers. Over 350 young people currently attend Scout and Guide activities each week, but given the increased population in the village there are also some 100 young people on the waiting list. Now we have the space, we can actively encourage new unit leaders to come forward and help us run even more groups

Dream HQ becomes a reality for Burley Scouts and Guides

We are amazed that so many people have helped us over the last five years by raising money and supporting us in so many ways. Much of the money has been raised by hard fundraising and by local community and individual donations. We want to thank everyone who has helped us however small and say a very big thank you for all your support.

We hope you will agree that we have created a fine facility for helping us to run our training programmes, to encourage village youngsters to develop into responsible citizens and that we have also provided a valuable community facility.
