Scouts and guides working on funding for new Burley headquarters

EFFORTS to raise £400,000 for the new Burley Scout and Guide headquarters are being stepped up since the proposed building gained planning permission from Bradford Council.

Guides put in their own effort on Saturday, raising hundreds of pounds by packing bags for supermarket shoppers.

Members of Burley Scout and Guide Group gathered at Morrisons supermarket in Guiseley for the event, raising more than £700 in the process.

Guide leader, Sue Vint, said: “We’ve been having lots of small events raising funds during the past six months, but we haven’t had a big launch yet.”
