Ecclesiastical Insurance – 12 days of giving campaign

We now have 12 new opportunities to secure £1,000 through the Ecclesiastical Insurance 12 days of giving campaign

You can nominate Burley Scouts and Guides through this link:

http://www.ecclesiastical.com/12days

Each weekday from 6 to 21 December, 10 charities will win £1,000. That’s £120,000 to 120 charities in 12 days

Operating a bit like a raffle, the more nominations Burley Scouts and Guides get, the greater our chances of winning. Nominations are open until midnight the day before each draw, with those charities not drawn carried over to the next day

So make sure you tell your family, friends, work colleagues and anyone else you can think of, and lets promote this through social media too

You’ll need our charity number for this which is 1025482

Aviva Community Fund – 2018

Voting is now open for this year’s Aviva Community Fund.

The Aviva Community Fund will finance 500 projects throughout the UK, and if this project gets enough votes it will be in with a chance of receiving funding.

All voters have to do is to create an account and register their 10 votes. The system prompts you to enter your e-mail address and then sends you a link (to make sure you’re not a robot!)

For those that took part last year, your log in details should still be the same, so it’s just a case of logging your 10 votes for the only project in Burley-in-Wharfedale

Attached is the link for our project, but if this doesn’t work, once you’ve registered, simply use the link “Find projects nearest to (location)” and that will bring you straight to our page

https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/4-1942

We have until 20th Nov to spread the word as far and as wide as we can, so please feel free to share this e-mail with family, friends, work colleagues, and on social media

We have asked for a £1,000 contribution, so with your help we have a genuine opportunity to secure this, with only a few clicks of a mouse!

Co-op Local Community Fund

Burley Explorers do Toughmudder!!

Members of 1st Burley Explorers signed themselves up for the Tough Mudder challenge to help raise funds for a new Scout and Guide Headquarters. The group set themselves a target of £600, but smashed this by raising a fantastic £1,000! Well done to everyone involved in this.

Tough Mudder is a 5 mile mud and 13 obstacle course designed to drag you out of your comfort zone by testing your physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Rather, it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie, and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are.

St Mary’s Parish Church 175th Anniversary

To mark the 175th anniversary of the consecration of St Mary’s parish church in 1843, on the 24th June there was a special celebratory service in the company of the Bishop of Leeds, the Rt Revd Nick Bains. The church invited representatives from across the village to which the Group was pleased to send representation from Cubs, Scouts and Explorers

It might have been the opportunity to hear Rt Revd Nick Bains speak that attracted the Cubs, Scouts and Explorers to attend, or it might have been the cake and BBQ afterwards. Difficult to say really, but both were fulfilling in their different ways
